Busy roads?
This is the MTB version of "The Carriageway", there's something about it that I prefer. Just can't put my finger on it. |
|
|
Traffic?
Look what happened this car that wandered onto our territory! |
|
|
Poor surface?
I've heard of stones on the road but this is ridulous! |
|
|
Self expression?
The big stone was not harmed in the making of this photo. |

Caution!
Extreme exertion can cause visual hallucinations. |

Welcome to "Not the Sunday Run" |
 |
 |
Yes, there is life and cycling after the Sunday run!
Despite years of indoctrination in the obscure cult of the "Sunday Run" a small group of us have managed, with a lot of help and therapy to escape. We know we will never be cured but have learned to take it one day at a time. If you are ready to make the break, feel free to join us.
We are not a club. We have no officials ,no membership fee and only one rule. You must wear a helmet! This web site does not claim to represent anyone's opinion.

Where to find us
We meet at 9am every Saturday in the year at the FAIRY GLEN BRIDGE in ROSTREVOR
,cycle locally for about 3 hours. Although we don't race (unless of course I get to win)you do need to be reasonably fit. Our rides are much more XC than DH and out and out downhillers will be disappointed(and probably left behind on the uphills!) We also do a night cycle in winter, Meet same place @6.30pm on Tuesdays. Your lights will need to last two hours at least.

Want to join us ?...Read this
Details of where and when we meet are above , as regards what you need , water/food for 3 hours , tubes/tools etc ,helmet( a must), usual layers of clothes to allow for anything the mournes might produce.
As regards fitness ,while we are are mostly ?old boys? most of us are training for one adventure race or another and we have been trying to up the pace a bit and reduce stops. In order to help people decide what level of fitness they need to be comfortable here is a map of a Standard Loop, and a Motion-Based link if you want to see details or download route to gps. If you can do this loop in around 1.5-1.75 hours you will have no probs in keeping up with us.
That said you are welcome to join us anyday ?you may well be faster/fitter than us , if you are off the pace we can (on some routes)suggest various short cuts that might allow you to dip in and out .
Hope this doesn?t put you off but to be forwarned is to be forearmed!
